The Office of the President recently updated previously issued guidance related to COVID-19 Leaves and Job Protections. We also received an updated form for academic employees to request UC’s Emergency Paid Administrative Leave (EPAL). Following is a list of resources:
The University of California has made it clear that all employees who can work in the United States (i.e., who are legally permitted to do so by virtue of citizenship or visa status) must work in the U.S. during this period of remote working (note that this does not apply to faculty on sabbatical).
Per the checklist for appointments, promotions, and merits, please make sure to include the following in the department letter:
For Adjunct Professors the letter should include the percent distribution of research and teaching.
The Request for Clock Extension Only form has been updated to allow requests for a serious health condition, a significant circumstance or event, and COVID-19 reasons. The form is available on the Academic Worklife Program Requests page at the following link: https://academicaffairs.ucdavis.edu/academic-worklife-program-requests. Please submit all clock extension requests, including third year clock extensions, via the Academic Worklife Program.
There is a temporary exception to policy through December 31, 2020 to APM 710. This exception applies only to those appointees covered under APM 710, as follows:
The UC Office of the President recently issued updated Guidelines for Search Waivers and Search Exemptions for Academic Appointees at the University of California. These guidelines reflect technical revisions to add a footnote to the Continuation of Training section, make minor language changes for clarification, and remove gendered language. These Guidelines continue to be available on the Academic Affairs webpage here.
Basic Qualifications: The minimum qualifications required to be considered for the position. These qualifications must be met at the time of application.
Additional Qualifications: These qualifications must be met by the start date of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: Other preferred, but not required qualifications for the position.
APM UCD 220AF has been revised and posted to include the new RA Unit as well as deferral and five year review requirements of the represented and non-represented academic researchers. Please note: Specialists in Cooperative Extension will now need to go under 5 year reviews if they have not been reviewed in the last five years by merit actions or five year reviews.The attributes chart has also been updated to reflect these changes and the Forms and Checklist site now includes 5 year review checklists for these titles.
All represented Academic Federation employees received a 3% range adjustment to their base salary effective 07/01/2020 (07/12/2020 for biweekly paid employees). The salary scales have been updated and can be found on the Academic Affairs website under “quick links” in upper right corner or https://academicaffairs.ucdavis.edu/salary-scales
